Frequently asked questions.
The basics
What is The American Contract?
The American Contract is a civic membership built on three pillars: Identity, Morals, and Values. One signature gives you a seal number for life and a seat on the Roll.
What is CrossHUG?
CrossHUG is the social platform of The American Contract. Every signer can read the Fellowship feed, On the Roll, and the Founders' Archive for free.
Is signing The American Contract legally binding?
The Terms say it is not a legal contract in the commercial sense. It is a covenant, a voluntary commitment to the ideals of American self-governance. Using the platform still means accepting the Terms of Service.
Who can sign?
You must be 18 or older to sign and hold an individual account. Students aged 13 to 17 take part only through a licensed institution's classroom.
Who founded The American Contract?
The American Contract was founded by Tiny Cross-H.U.G., a former welder and solar installer who holds Seal #0001. It is operated by Transformation Housing Universal God LLC.
How it works
What is PVOS?
PVOS is the Personal Values Operating System. It has four modules: Identity Engine, Moral Compass, Value Stack, and Growth Signal. It compares the values you state with the values your kept commitments show.
Is PVOS free?
You can start for free without an account. Online PVOS comes with The Frontier and The Covenant, and the downloadable Starter Pack costs $67.
What is Standing?
Standing is a record of what you have done: documents sealed, commitments kept, modules finished, and witnesses received. It is read every night, nobody votes on it, and money moves none of it. Your Standing is shown only to you.
What does it mean to witness someone?
Witnessing is one member vouching for another, once and permanently. You can witness others after 2 members have witnessed you and you reach 25 on your own record.
What is the Studio?
The Studio is where you work on your record and see your Standing. Posting video to the Fellowship starts at The Frontier.
Membership and money
How much does membership cost?
There are four tiers, and signing is free at The Promise.
| Tier | Price | Adds |
|---|---|---|
| The Promise | Free | Read CrossHUG, the Founders' Archive, a handle and a seal |
| The Commitment | $12/month | Posting, the full Content Ecosystem, all 12 AI Literacy modules |
| The Frontier | $50/month | Video posting, hosting, unlimited Civic Advisor, Online PVOS |
| The Covenant | $1,776/year | Founding Member mark, annual convening, Values Will, PVOS Starter Pack |
Can I get a refund on The Covenant?
Yes, within 14 days of purchase or renewal, and not after.
Can I get paid?
Yes, if you are 18 or older, on The Frontier or above, and have a connected Stripe account. You receive 80% of Stakes and standing support, and hosts receive 70% of sponsorship placements. Payout accounts are set up in the United States.
Can money improve my Standing?
No. Money given or received never changes anyone's Standing. No member, sponsor, or donor can buy influence over Standing, moderation, or the Roll.
Trust and privacy
Does CrossHUG remove speech for its viewpoint?
No. The Speech Rules protect political opinion, including opinions contrary to the editor's views. Removal is limited to the grounds listed in the Speech Rules: incitement to violence, true threats against a specific person, targeted harassment, defamatory statements of fact, illegal content (US law), coordinated inauthentic behavior, spam / scams, and shown without consent. You can appeal once within 14 days.
Is The American Contract neutral?
No. It has a stated position, written into the Contract. Its promise is that the position is arrived at in the open and never for sale.
How is it funded?
Funding comes from memberships, digital products, sponsor placements, voluntary support and institutional licences. We take no money from a political party, a campaign, or a candidate committee.
Does AI make decisions about members?
No AI model removes, hides, or suspends anything, and none decides your Standing. A person decides every removal and suspension. Private messages and sealed capsules are never sent to a model.
Who can read my private messages?
Only the two members in the conversation. If someone reports messages, a copy goes to a human moderator and stays with the report.
Can my school, church, or employer see my values?
No. An institution sees participation totals only, never your values, reflections, answers, or sealed documents.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Your records are removed, not hidden. Enforcement decisions, reports, purchases, and staff actions are kept with your name taken out.
Organizations
Can an organization bring this to its people?
Yes. School districts and colleges start at $2,500 a year, and a free pilot is available for districts. Congregations can form a chapter for $99 to $399 a month. Government agency work is priced from $25,000 to $150,000.
