An outlet is on this list if it is a nonprofit, nonpartisan newsroom whose main subject is how government works — elections, legislatures, courts and state policy — and it publishes a public RSS feed. We do not choose outlets by viewpoint, and we do not remove one for what it concludes.

The feed also carries headlines returned by news aggregators (Google News, Marketaux, NewsAPI and GNews). Which publishers those return is decided by the aggregator, not by this list. Separately, it carries the government’s own records (Federal Register and Congress.gov feeds, and official YouTube channels), which are marked “Primary record”. Everything in the feed that a member did not write is carried, not endorsed.
